The plant selects the appropriate quartz as raw material, processes it through a series of production lines, and refines it through a series of processes, resulting in high-purity quartz sand. The entire production line can be customized to meet customer needs, producing 5,000-70,000 tons of quartz sand.
Quartz Sand Production Process
Calcination & Quenching: The ore is heated to high temperature, then rapidly cooled, causing thermal shock that cracks the quartz internally and exposes impurities for easier removal.
Crushing & Grinding: The thermally shocked quartz is then crushed and ground to sand-sized particles, liberating the quartz from attached impurities.
Screening & Desliming: The material is screened and washed to remove fine clay “slimes,” yielding a clean, uniform particle size for further processing.
Magnetic Separation: High-gradient magnetic separators remove iron and other magnetic impurities.
Flotation: Special reagents are added to separate remaining non-quartz minerals for removal; multiple flotation stages ensure maximum purification.
Acid Leaching: The quartz sand is soaked in acid solutions to dissolve away any remaining metallic impurities, while leaving the silica intact.
High-Temperature Chlorination: Finally, the sand is exposed to chlorine gas at high heat, vaporizing any trace elements and eliminating internal inclusions.
Outcome: The end result is ultra-high purity quartz sand (over 99.999% SiO2) with minimal impurities and a controlled particle size distribution, ready for high-end applications.
Tip: Different application scenarios (glass, construction, casting) have different requirements for fineness/impurity content, so the process needs to be slightly adjusted.
