What are concrete pumps?

A concrete pump is mainly used for transportation. It can transfer the liquid concrete from the mixing site to the pouring location efficiently. The concrete pumping equipment eliminates manual labor and speeds up construction. Meanwhile, it ensures precise placement.

For high-rise buildings, bridges, tunnels, and large-scale infrastructure projects, our concrete pumps are your ideal choice. Daswell company has three types of pumps for your different concrete pumping requirements.

Le pompes de mélangeur en béton combine mixing and pumping functions. The concrete mixer hydraulic pump is more suitable for remote sites and small-scale projects.

Pompes à remorque are suitable for long-distance and vertical projects. You can adopt it for dams, bridges, and skyscrapers.

Une pompe à boom en béton is also called a truck with concrete boom pump. It equipped with a hydraulic arm for placing flexibly. This boom pump truck is applicable for urban construction, high-rises, large slabs, etc.

5 Advantages of using concrete pumps for construction

  1. Convient à la construction de grande hauteur: Using a concrete pump, can push concrete to high-rise construction easily. Especially, our concrete boom pumps are popular among customers for urban high-rises.
  2. Amélioration de l'efficacité: The traditional pouring method needs about 20 workers with low pouring speed. While choosing our concrete pump machine needs fewer operators. 4 workers can operate the concrete pumping equipment. And the pumping speed is 6 faster than manual pouring.
  3. Déplacer facilement: Both our concrete pump with mixer and the trailer pump machines have wheels for moving in construction sites conveniently. And the boom pump truck can over obstacles easily.
  4. Réduction des coûts: Utilizing concrete pumps can reduce both the labor costs and the time.
  5. Améliorer la sécurité: It is reported that 62% fewer accidents on pump-equipped sites. Adopting concrete pumping machines for working, can eliminate workers falling from the formwork. At the same time, it can avoid slip hazards from spilled concrete.

Concrete mixer pump(mixing and pumping)

The concrete mixer pump combines a concrete mixer and a pump, allowing for continuous mixing and pumping of concrete. The continuous mixing ensures a steady flow of concrete without delays.

This machine is more suitable for small- to medium-sized projects like residential buildings and rural construction because of its compact design.

Trailer concrete pump machine(stocking and pumping)

The trailer pump requires separate concrete mixing and delivery via a truck. It also needs flexible pipelines for sending the concrete to the desired location. Meanwhile, you should arrange labor to assemble and disassemble the pipeline.

Compared with mixer pumps, this trailer pump is more suitable for long-distance pumping. For your large projects, such as bridges, dams, etc., it is applicable.

Truck-mounted boom pump(pumping directly for high-rise construction)

The boom pump features a robotic arm (boom) mounted on a truck, allowing precise concrete placement. Our booms can extend up to 58 meters, enabling flexible placement without manual pipelines. It adopts remote control operation. The operator can control the boom from a distance, which enhances safety.

These boom pumps are often used for large commercials, high-rise construction, and sites requiring fast, precise concrete placement.

When choosing a suitable concrete pump machine, you should consider your project scale, site conditions, and the mixed concrete quality. Here is a step-by-step guide to select the most suitable pump equipment.

S'assurer que l'équipement de pompe en béton dont vous avez besoin

Boom concrete pumps: This concrete pump boom truck is applicable for large-scale projects, such as high-rise buildings, bridges, dams, etc. It has long arms for long-distance pumping. You do not need to install pipelines. But it is more expensive than other types. And it also requires space for setup.

Line pump: Daswell has two kinds of line pumps for you to choose from. The trailer mounted concrete pumps are suitable for small-scale projects. It is flexible with lone hose lines at an affordable price. And this trailer type pump is more suitable for some places, which are narrow. But its pumping speed is lower than boom type. And you should install hose lines manually.

Except for the trailer type line concrete pumps. Daswell also has concrete mixer with pump. It can not only pump concrete but also mix. Different from boom concrete pump and trailer type concrete pump equipment, these mixer pumps can mix concrete on site.

Whether you use the trailer or boom pumping machine, you need to prepare mixed concrete for pumping.

Vérification de la compatibilité du mélange de béton

  • Ensuring the aggregate size: Most pumps can handle under 20mm. There are also some pumps, which support 40mm aggregates.
  • Ensuring the slump: The ideal range is between 50mm and 100mm. Whether it’s too wet or too dry, it may cause pipeline blockage.
  • Evaluating site conditions: Choosing concrete pump boom truck, needs clearance for outriggers. The line pumps are more suitable for working in tight spots.

When using a concrete pumping facility, the main problems is blockage or pipeline blockage. This may occur when the concrete can not flow smoothly through the pumping line. And this will cause operational delays, increased pressure, and potential damage to the pumping equipment.

Why is the concrete pumps blocked?

  1. The mixed concrete is poor.If the slump is not correct(too wet or too dry), or the aggregate size is excessive or poor gradation, or it lacks proper admixtures, these problems of concrete mixing may cause concrete pumping system blockage.
  2. The pipeline has issues.Generally, the pipeline lays improperly or lubricates poorly, or is worn out. These may cause blockage. Besides, if your pipe diameter is inadequate for the aggregate size, the pipeline will block as well.
  3. The pumping technique has errors.Pumping pressure, starting/stopping frequency, and operating methods can affect the pipeline.
  4. Les matériaux ont des problèmes. Separation of water from mixed concrete or aggregate settling may cause pipeline problems.
  5. Environment. The concrete may set rapidly at high temperatures. And the cold weather can lead to stiffening of the mixed concrete.
  1. Use well-mixed concrete with proper workability.
  2. Make sure to set up the pipeline properly. You had better minimize the pipeline bends, and adopt the correct pipeline diameter.
  3. Lubricate the pipeline. Before stating the pumping equipment, use a cement slurry or pumping aid for lubricating the pipeline.
  4. Keep a consistent pumping speed to avoid pressure surges.

If the pipeline blockage occurs, the operator may need to reverse the pump and clean or disassemble the section of the pipeline to clear the clog. Thus, before you use the pumping machine, proper training and maintenance ability are key for minimizing the pumping issues.

Except for these technical data, there are also some factors, which will affect the pumping time.

  1. Pipeline length and layout. Loner pipelines or sharp bends will slow the pumping speed.
  2. Workability of mixed concrete. Low-slump concrete pumps are slower than high type.
  3. Site conditions. Congested sites make truck movement slow and hose placement inconveniently. Meanwhile, the weather also affects concrete setting time. It may cause pipeline blockage and increase maintenance time.
